NEW RULING RELATED TO CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME
On April 3, 2014, the Social Security Administration published a new ruling SSR 14-1p, “Evaluating Claims Involving Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.” The ruling updates developments related to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) since 1999 and the revisions seem to be very positive. The ruling lists symptoms that a person with CFS may exhibit, conditions that may co-occur with CFS and includes Myalgic Encephalomyelitis as a CFS sub-type. Additionally the ruling includes information on how to document CFS and how to evaluate a person’s statements related to CFS and how to find a person disabled based upon CFS.
